ArteLab Guitars is an Italian lutherie that makes instruments with distinctive designs, where customization, originality, and supply chain control effectively combine style, performance, and final product quality.
ArteLab Guitars is a luthier workshop specializing in the construction of electric guitars that was founded by Antonino Dell’Arte. His goal is to create instruments with a precious aesthetic that also sound equally good, which is why in addition to traditional models, he has introduced others with original and distinctive designs.
All models are distinguished by the careful choice of woods used, from cutting to seasoning, and a thorough study of the weight and center of gravity that the instrument will require when finished. In addition, all instruments are made by maintaining a short supply chain, 100% Italian, and as KM 0 as possible. Another aspect that distinguishes Artelab’s products concerns the high degree of customization: as with a tailor-made suit, customization is maximum, from the choice of woods, hardware, electronics, scale, and radius down to the most minute details of finishes.
ArteLab Guitars’ catalog focuses exclusively on solid body electric guitars. These include a traditional series called T-Ely, introduced to satisfy those looking for classic shapes but with revised technical content; and a series called Jovy, with distinctive features such as pronounced curves in the sides and a very small headstock with 3+3 tuning machines.
More innovative is the Mick series that is the subject of this test. It reflects the desire to create instruments Made-in-Italy without compromise: from the hardware to the pickups and materials used. The body of the guitar has been hollowed out on the inside to increase resonance and reduce weight to just 3 kg, making it a light and manageable instrument, but no less solid. The tone chambers consist of thin, straight corridors that maintain the solidity of the full body and overall body/handle rigidity. Unusual woods such as Beté for the neck, flamed poplar for the body with a center insert of Roasted Ash, and black limba for the top were used, creating a unique combination of tone and color. The pickup control system, called Omnia Split, allows up to 8 different sound combinations, offering a versatile range of sound options.
MICK by ArteLab Guitars is a unique instrument, designed with attention to detail to offer every musician a quality sound and visual experience. Lightness, solidity, fine woods, and Made in Italy are the distinctive features of this model from ArteLab, which will be available for testing at Guitar Show Italy on May 20th and 21st, 2023.
