B. Andrew Barta founded Tech 21 in Manhattan, introducing the SansAmp, his original invention initially created for personal use. With an electronics background and a job repairing and customizing amplifiers, Andrew turned his vision into reality, despite initially having no intention of becoming a manufacturer. After major manufacturers rejected his technology, he decided to go it alone. The SansAmp quickly gained musician approval, revolutionizing direct recording with the first tube amplifier emulator, allowing for powerful tones to be directly connected to studio mixers or stage PAs. Tech 21 continues to produce robust, multifunctional analog devices, staying true to products that don’t require continuous updates and remain in production for years.
